About Us
ADVOCATES FOR GRANDPARENT GRANDCHILD CONNECTION, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, was created on behalf of the children who have been denied access to their grandparents. It is a multigenerational organization which educates the public about grandparents’ rights, advocates for grandchildren, and supports grandparents who have suffered from loss of affection and contact from their grandchildren.
“ I'm extremely thankful for
the work you are doing
and please know you have
already made a difference in our lives and we are eternally grateful.”
Regards,
Alice Cardenas
Denied visitation between grandparents and their grandchildren can be a humiliating experience. First of all, these grandparents think that they are alone; this is only happening to them. Second, they feel that they are to blame because of the way their children are treating them. The grandparents that are more willing to talk about it are usually the ones that have one of their children going through a divorce, and it is somehow easier to discuss the former daughter in law or son in law. Probably the most common scenario is the former DIL as the alienator.
Grandparent visitation issues are fast becoming a growing national social problem, and we as grandparents really do need to do what we can to raise awareness. There are so few support groups, why not start one of your own? There is something healing about actual human interaction. In our Corona Del Mar group, we always look for solutions and ways of improving our situation.
Grandparents may want to be proactive within their own situation as well as in their community. If more grandparents fought for visitation when appropriate, they would earn more respect and strengthen the movement. There are colleges with legal clinics and organizations that can offer assistance, don’t be afraid to reach out. The more actively involved we become the more interest the
public sector will take on.
